No longer the wide-eyed innocent kids they are often portrayed as in the original books, each girl has come into her own. Weir does an excellent job of giving the girls different personalities that clash and complement each other. Stealing Dorothy’s magic slippers ( colored ruby in the webcomic like the MGM movie but silver in the graphic novel like the books) she decides to escape to Oz, but gets an unwelcome passenger in Wendy Darling. However, this doesn’t sit well with Alice (portrayed here as an ill-tempered, conniving girl) who doesn’t like the idea of being studied like a science project. The girls are then assigned to a nanny (Mary Poppins in the original webcomic and “Miss Poole” in the revamped version). As it turns out, however, this is no institution as the men in charge, Dr. The graphic novel takes place, apparently, at an institution called Cheshire Crossing where three teenagers – Alice Liddel, Wendy Darling, and Dorothy Gale – find themselves rooming with each other.
